Far too often, small and medium-sized software projects rely on “gut feelings” when deciding which parts of their software might be high-risk.

Tests are often the unsung heroes of software development. They ensure that applications run smoothly before they reach users. At the same time, testing can consume significant amounts of time, resources, and budget-especially if not approached strategically. But what if testing were more than just a necessary expense? What if it could become an efficient, cost-saving success factor?

Version control is deeply ingrained in modern software development: we rarely see a development project without a dedicated source code repository. Yet, in many software quality assurance processes, versioning for test cases, test executions, and test evidence is still underestimated. The result: a lack of reliable traceability, difficulties in referencing past test results, and time-consuming searches during audits.

I’d like to share a glimpse of a new approach our design team has been experimenting with to visualize test runs more effectively. After a fruitful brainstorming session with my team, one of our designers proposed a unique chart to condense large amounts of test run information into a single, compact view.
